The Evolution of Print

So it turns out that print has finally decided to fully evolve into the digital arena.  According to Cynopsis Digital, some of the publishing giants including Time Inc., Conde Nast, Hearst Corp. and News Corp. have officially announced their venture into digital publishing.  This not only includes web publications but also e-readers, phones and other digital devices.  This to be accomplished through the development of “open technology standards.” Furthermore:

The as-yet-unnamed consortium is out to design a storefront as well as a multiplatform software suite and user interface that can be used to distribute magazines, newspapers, books and other content across devices. The companies hope that by developing a standard platform, device makers and advertisers can be more quickly brought into the fold to help monetize both traditional publications and newer web-based blogs and digital graphic novels.

Sounds pretty exciting, no? It will be even more interesting to see the kinds of technology and devices that are developed in conjunction with the evolution of print. Check out an example below:
